Category: Type me!!!
This was a comment before. But its about my uncertainity with Socionics and all typing systems, because of my uncertainity with my type. Please read, it would be so helpful to have new perspective. Its very long, but there is alot to it that you might have thought of, but never gotten far in trying to fully understand. [[[[[[[[Well, I'm an INT-something, or something something rather; who knows what? You sound like your preference as being an INTJ is clean-enough cut. Good for you. I'm going to be 17 soon and from when I was 14-15, I wasted my life contemplating socionics. Socionics is an interesting structure to such a grabbing concept. Most of the people who are on here for so long must be strong INTJs, maybe I am too, I'm just deficient and don't understand and comprehend things well enough, so I have to adopt the seeking behaviors of other types. I used to be really shy, wouldn't talk to anyone, but I love attention and I love people, I love it when people like me. But I'm in-my-own-head and shy all the same, I'm a freakin' mess. I scored INTP almost everytime I took the socionics test, but I fit the notion of dominant Ti better than Ni I think, though I get confused and am never sure. I'm super serious and intense; at my best I can appear very casual but still extremely intense, and have learned to be Chameleon-like in many different settings. I can never commit to anything. I also don't get good grades, and can talk intelligently and understand alot of things(though math is tricky unless it has to do with Classical Music) to an extent that I could be most genuinely thoughtful sounding speaker in a good sized collection of people. But I'm lazy and useless, in some ways I feel incredibly stupid. But, but but, but, I feel like I have a characteristic perspective to me that is very rare, and gives me the potential for a lot of ego and a lot of humility all the same, but coexisting and conflicting. Tangents. Well, my goal was to offer you some perspective, usually I have some pretty unusual perspectives. Socionics, I don't get it, I more about it than most people who claim to get it know, but, I don't have a type to confidently call my own. So, either I discredit it, or stubbornly hope it will work.]]]]]]]] What do you guys think? Do I just have ambiguous preferences, am I a confused member of a distinct type, or is Socionics just not that deeply applicable and somewhat faulty and not very scientific? Thats my current story with Socionics as best as I will be able to describe it right now. Don't call me any type please unless you are totally convinced and think you can sort of ADD to my knowledge, and NOT indescriminately OVERIDE it. In someways, Ne seems to be me because I like really wierd things and I indulgently dig into any concept I come across(I think refinement between intuition types is concept of faulty logic, its all the same..prove me wrong?). I'm also very charismatic when in a good mood, but I often feel like I have a puny presence. I don't think I'm "right brained" enough to be an ENTP. INTP, they seem too rigid and strategic at the expense of deep understanding. ENTJs are too tough and regular. INFJs, too naturally tranquil. INFPs, I can't manipulate my emotions very quickly. ENFPs, I'm too slow witted, even though I love social things, plus I'm too deep. ENFJs, too good socially and too energetic. INTJs, too linnear, but maybe that how I was born and I grew around it. ISTJs, too practicle. ISTPs too cool and cold. ISFJs, god, sometimes I feel dangerously close to being one, they describe them so much as what I aspire not to be but might actually be deep down; they are so lamely described, I have a strong mind! ISFPs, maybe when I have some twisted perspective, I'll believe it, same for all other unmentioned sensates. Please Help People, try my thinking on, if you think you have the type for me nailed, go for it. If you can't decide, start thinking about what I could actually be in a more flexible sense. I don't know what I mean really, just use your intuition to give me a wholesome, truly wholesome answer if you can. -- Grant

A12 A2+A9+A11: You posted many questions and expressed many thoughts, so I will answer just some and still I'm afraid this is going to be pretty long. "Why should I trust you"? "Don't pull the card "who says a dominant sensate can't have a well-developed intuition" LOL I like that Answer is, a) you needn't if you don't want to, and b) I'm not going to pull that card. IMO it's more complex, I'll try to explain my opinion: I believe everyone uses all functions at some times, like one book says "if you weren't able to use Si at all, you would fall off the bike; if you didn't have no Ti, you wouldn't be able to read maps". I'm not absolutely sure this is true, but definitely everyone has the potential to use all functions but people difer in what functions are their area of confidence. Being an N doesn't mean you're not able to cook, being an S doesn't mean you're not able to learn mathematics. It's just about what comes first and more naturally to you. So if you are, let's say, an Se, and you have to face an N situation, as N doesn't come naturally to you, you look for a way you could solve it by your secondary Ti or Fi, not N. And maybe partly learn to use N at some 50 or 60 years of age. I'm only just 26. What you see as a decent mind, abstract thinking etc. I see not as N but as hyper-developed Fi thinking, intellectual upbringing, B.A. in English studies = four years of writing essays, and five years of practice in explaining Socionics to my mother. I can assure you I am a sensate all right, I have all the typical features of ESFps. But as I come from an Fi, Si and Ni family and my life wasn't especially easy, I learned to use my Fi to think. A lot. And as I'm a sensate, my thinking is basically induction - gathering information from outside, processing it by Fi and explaining by Te. - Thank you a lot for calling me a decent mind, btw nobody had called me this before. - I'm not sure Socionics is the right tool that will help you prove you're special. In theory, none of the 16 types are special, and in practice, everyone considers different types to be special. If you want to be special I would suggest choosing something that will be really and only your area. Everyone can be really good at something, and you seem to care to become like that, which is the first step to success. I can understand very well you don't feel at ease at school and in similar institutions. (I didn't either.) If you're an INFp, your conflict type is ESTj, which is what many teachers are. So I'd suggest, don't let them depress you and stick to your sports and ESTp team leaders. And maybe travel to Latvia, which seems to me a predominantly INFp country (with the exception of the capital, Riga), maybe you could feel more yourself there -- Ezis (ESFp)

A13 Its a shame that I don't go to a traditional high school. Actually, most of my teachers seem to be N'ish, maybe really gung-ho ESTJ's. I've gotten really good at just not listening to "traditional" ESTJ teachers, I just keep my distance and then they have nothing on me, and I might take pride in the fact that ISTJ staff at my school love me, but I believe there might also be ENFP or ENFJ teachers as well at my school. My humanities teacher is either ESTJ or ENFP. I'd initially think ENFP except he is not laid back like the ENFPs I know, though it could be the setting. He is much more flexible than ESTJ's I've known(and he actually has creative ability that wasn't initiated as blatantly by the book, but its still not completely there), but he is superficial seeming, he tries to be the awesome teacher and it suceeds for many, except he tends to overlook the subleties that I present and doesn't really introspect effectively. But I feel a bit bad for being too bugged by him at times because he usually doesn't have a clue, I think he makes the class move too fast and he focused on efficiency(Te), as opposed to understanding(Ti), and that is what I ultimately tend to want, I want to get it, and he just wants you to do it, he also has a big sensitive NF ego. How do you know about Latvia? Nobody has ever called you that before? Do you not ever speak your mind? You sure do here. Your thoughts also seem to have come a very long ways from the initial information you gather on the site and about the life stuff too, you have the insight to make well thought out analogies between socionics and stuff and life. First off, that is in fact an indicator of a depth of mind that eludes the general population, are you really that unconfident with this kind of thinking in public that you never get to show how well you understand this stuff. If you are saying stuff like this here, I can't imagine you not displaying that elsewhere. The only thing I can figure is that you haven't been around people that will compliment you for talents like that, or people who take talents like that for granted because its a skill they also have. Are you from the U.S.? Over people like that seem to stick out and are often complimented for their abilities more than necessary, or completely neglected if they are misunderstood, usually a combination. I don't doubt you are an ESFP, I wouldn't suspect it based on how you write, but if you are you are. But even if you are using techniques you've learned to arrive at conclusions that make sense to Ns, well first off, you must've gone through hell to learn them; and if you did go through all that, you are a good mind. Whether you had one to begin with or not, now you are, and if you weren't already, that makes you something else, provided you really legitimately didn't have it a little bit easy to begin with("synthetic thinking", is probably what I'm referring to, I'm saying that if you emulate that well, or if you gained it, that's pretty admirable). Your posts are very kind, appreciated, but I don't always enjoy smiley's so you can imagine them. -- Grant
