Category: Duality ENFp ISTp INTj Relationship
I read that the best romantic match for an ENFP is an INTJ. I thought that was possible because they are both intuitives and have a need to explore and answer questions. However your site socionics said that the best match is the ISTP being the relation of duality. Seems strange because the Conflict relations is ISTJ. ISTJ and ISTP are really close. so whats really the best match??? -- leesa

A15 i am an ENFP and 17yrs and trying to understand myself, can anyone help me understand wat im goin through, if so can u email me @ lil_draino_69@hotmail.com -- italian
A16 All P-types have "radial" (probing) outlooks, while J-types think more linearly -- by definition. I've met a few of my duals (ESFPs) and found them very charming in person (though these were only momentary meetings and I thought "it must be an illusion -- won't work out in the long run"). On the practical side, I tend to lose contacts easily outside the "strictly business" sphere. Most "social" contacts good and bad alike exit by the same pipe -- neglect. ESFPs retain all contacts. I can see a mutual benefit arising out of that -- but I wouldn't go by the theory alone and while the best match is likely to be an adequate dual, not all duals will be adequate. -- Anonymous
A17 I'm an ENFP (male) MARRIED to an ISTJ (woman). Try living with one! I call her the General. SHE wears the pants in our family. Or is it a uniform in our regiment? Sex is whenever SHE's in the mood, Which isn't anywhere near as often as I would prefer. Romance or anything spontanious is out of the question. Bright side is that she's a full time stay at home Mom that manages to keep our bills paid even AFTER I blow a wad on some ridiculous half-baked idea. I choose to believe that when she does laugh, that it's with me and not at me. Talk less, work more and act like your'e a private in their Army and you'll do just fine. Personally I couldn't deal with the sloppy way an ISTP lives. There natural slobs! (most of them anyway) I know this is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black, and that an ENFP I'm also a natural slob and don't pick up after myself as I should. But, That's one of the things I really appreciate about the General (the ISTJ wife) you can eat off the floor in our home! I Think her broom has a kick starer! Clean freak is a MILD description of an ISTJ. - Barry G -- Barry G
A18 I completely disagree that the ISTP is the best match for an INTJ, and completely agree that the best match for the INTJ is the ENFP. I am an ENFP female dating an INTJ male. I am a psychologist student and my boyfriend is an engineering student. Now let me tell you, that an Intuitive engineer is not going to enjoy the structure, predictability, bossy, (general like behavior)of the Sensing Thinking Types. Intuitive people for a fact enjoy other Intuitive types b/c we are spontaneous, unpredictable, enthusiastic & curious about the world. We gather information about our world differently than the Sensing Thinking types, as they rely heavily on practical approach while we value innovation & imagination. The INTJ often enjoys the enthusiasm, social skills, support, curiosity, & interest that ENFP's have in their great thinking capabilities. Recall that us ENFP's get easily bored & only the intelligent, intuitive "Scientist" sparks and keeps our attention. -- Anonymous
A19 A3, what you describe is me very well and what you want and able to provide to a relationship is deep down my idea of an ideal relationship, which would be wow but i've never dated my dual, woo! .. But gee, you get me all gushy all of a sudden! Re istj and istp-I work with an istj and although we have similarites I think we are very different-to my way of looking she places far too much importance on procedures for their own sake where as I am much more flexible and achieve the results without being so po faced about it all and so serious hehe, no doubt she feels I don't take it all seriously enough tho! Just my own little take on this in this big socionic world -- An ISTp

A20 "INTJ often enjoys the enthusiasm, social skills, support, curiosity." - A18, Yeah right..whatever you say. How can a Scientist really spark an ENFP. 99% BS might I add. So you're an engineering ...student. Come on buddy, get in the real world where you have an engineering job and you can talk again. Are you sure you're INTJ, cause it seems you're basing your answer off of presumptions rather than an educated statement. -- ISTP
A21 A18 I would like to say that myself personally is very spontaneneous. In regards to previous discussion re intelligence-i am an s and i'm high intelligence a thinker hi iq. I've got to say, and correct me if i'm wrong, but I find student intelligence to be a bit, i don't know, wishy washy and not really grounded in the real world. This may be a n thing but i do know a few n's and i can relate to their intelligence in a very stimulating way, esp my brother being an intp. But A18 post along with some other general posts on this sight leave me somewhat at a loss. Don't know if i'm explaining this right is it really an n thing or is it more of a idealistic outlook ? -- An ISTp
A22 Some opinions from an ENFP that has dated a lot of girls from pretty much every type. INTJ's are the only girls that really keep my interest and that actually have something to offer me - they motivate me to achieve and help me get organized. In return I show them a world of fun and spontaneity and keep help them with their typically poor self-images. Looking at the world through a microscope kills a lot of its magic and beauty, so that's what I give them that they lack. I have to say, the supervisor / supervisee approach is flawed. It looks at it only from what the INTJ gives and how the ENFP responds, without looking at the ENFP's contributions as more than just placations. I'm dominant. Fiercely. Instead of seeing the INTJ as a Supervisor, I see them as a Secretary, one that reminds me of my appointments, and brings up all the little picture details that I am too busy with big plans to take care of. Yes, my perspective here is a bit demeaning, but that's mostly to compensate for the way the power relations have been analyzed thus far. What the ENFP gives and controls matters. ENFPs have the ability to set an Agenda, to get projects up and running, and then the INTJ executes the practicalities of the project. Also, all the INTJ's seem to have a bit of an openness towards the fun that the ENFP has to offer. The main point is, is that the INTJ ENFP relationship, from my experiences, can be very mutually nurturing. -ENFP -- ENFP
A23 ok, i have just read all of the post that everyone in here has written, personally, i think that for an ENFP or whoever want to match up with any other type in relationship.... there are certainly some that has higher chances of suceeding.. FOr example: ENFJ(me) will never go out with istp, enfp, isfj, but will definity go out with infp, intj, intp, istj and estj. but these are just the preferred type... As you can read here some ENFP thinks that INTJ's are boring and some enfp are fasinatedby them, so it just shows that matrueity, physically attraction general interest in hobby and life also needs to match. SO, even tho there are some type that there is more lower chances of you dating them, there will also be some type who has much higher chances for you to succed in life. Just also other elements in relationship that has to match also. -- ENFJ
A24 To A20, you have very poor reading skills... The ENFP said she's a phsychology major and that her boyfriend was the engineering major... A18 says ENFP not INTJ. I don't know if I know too many ISTPs but looking at many of your responses I don't think I want to know any of you. Anyways I'm an INTx more often INTJ than INTP though, but I'm glad to hear that ENFP's enjoy their relationships with INTJ's, I'll try to keep that in mind if I ever date one of ya. -- INTx
A25 A lot of the 'N' posters here don't really seem to know what N role or creative functioning really means. On the face of it, it would appear there has been some mistyping, occuring in this thread. Just thought I'd bring that to peoples attention, to keep an open mind, when viewing certain answers. -- Cyclops
A26 ENFP is good with INTJ, but better with INFJ. That's what John Lennon and Yoko Ono were, right? -- Anonymous
A27 I love Harry Potter and found out that the wonderful Severus Snape is a INTJ and I know a few people who are INTJs and thery're all quite , really reserved, mysterious, sexy. Being an ENFP I find myself attracted to the sensitive quieter guy. ENFPs dont wanna be with charismatic animated goof balls because it would be like dating yourself, how boring. ENFPs and INTJs are opposites? I think opposites attract more than like attracts like for relationships. Different enough but still share the very in tune intuition. Makes a sexy pairing I think. Maybe sour relationships are because you get some people who date people who are too similar to them. Two bossy people will always want their way for example. My friends partner is quite and introverted like my friend and every time they're together my friend cries. A relationship shouldn't be about tears and tantrums. I think the best relationships are the ones where your different enough to contemplate each other but similar enough to get along and have fun. -- Anonymous
A28 Wow this is so facinating.I am an enfp and have been married to a istj and an isfp. Neither worked.I was totally out of touch with the istj, had no clue what he was about. The isfp and I could be very romanitc but there were times when I was sooooooooo bored. My one true love is an infp but the two of us spent hours dreaming and not doing. I am stumped. Maybe a entp or an intp are the answer. -- Anonymous
