Default Ne or Ti

what exactly is the difference between extroverted intuition and introverted thinking? how do we determine if we are conceiving or perceiveing? if a person observes a group of four items, is the person conceiving the number four, or perceiving it? if there were no one around, would the pattern still be there? if we are conceiving, then why can we not conceive of reality accurately without mathematics? (we cannot achieve space travel, for example, on a conception that lacks the certainty of mathematics.) is the mathematician who is intuiting extrovertedly, actually thinking introvertedly?

Ti takes information notes the logical connections between items, giving everything a kind of cause and effect relationship.

Ne at its core doesn't take anything for granted. It assumes other possibilities exist, and nothing has to be logically connected. Ne is the function least likely to be misdirected as it automatically realizes that what appears to be may not necessarily be.
