Category: Typing Advice
My brother has a friend who I think is an ISFP, but I'm not sure. He is very clingy in the relationship with my brother, but my brother only pities him, so it's not much of a relationship. He's very talkative around my brother and his friends, and follows my brother around everywhere, and gets offended when you tell him the truth or make jokes at his expense, and he can be very loud sometimes and is easily distracted,(not very creative, either). And he has this habit of pointing out the obvious all the time, and it's annoying. But I'm not sure if my assumption of his type is correct. Can someone help? -- Fefe

A1 I'm not sure that type is the appropriate way to assess that person. The post is describing social extraversion in that person but whether he is an ISFP is anyone's guess. In theory that could have been me when I was twelve years old. You may be able to relate to the person if you become more sure of his type, but it sounds like other non-type related issues are affecting him. There's nothing wrong with being nice to the person even if he's annoying sometimes. -- econdude
A2 Yeah, given the info I gotta agree with your assessment. I'm no arrogant jerk, but it sounds like a pretty banal personality. -- Arti_Chuck
A3 Doesn't sound like ISFp to me at all. Sounds more like an ESFj. They often want to be liked so bad that it gets annoying. -- RR INTp
A4 It doesn't sound like he's an E at all! If he is only talkative with people he's comfortable with, that sounds like an I. I am very talkative around my friends (INTP). I/E doesn't have much to do with talkativeness... it's just whether your perception of the world is focused on the environment or within yourself. I think this guy could very well be ISFP as they can seem clingy since they like to hang out with certain people and are usually too lazy to leave them alone. -- Anonymous

A5 @A4:"It doesn't sound like he's an E at all! If he is only talkative with people he's comfortable with, that sounds like an I." There's nothing there that says, he wouldn't be just as talkative with other people too. And since when have introverts been comfortable around people who constantly offend them? -- Anonymous
