I've come to find this theory of personality type, as interesting as it is, equally as useless. For instance, even if I told you my type, or my friend's type, and it was accurate, what does that really tell you? Not much. It tells you something mechanical about me.

C55 C16... I find your comments fascinating. I never thought of this, but I think you may be on to something with your idea of incompetence in dominant function leading to a person 'failing in life'. And I do believe I may have this issue. What I am curious about, though, is what leads a person to be incompetent in his or her dominant function? I'm just wondering what goes wrong. Jung said a person can end up undifferentiated that person's parents (or some other authority figure) thwarts the development of a child's dominant function (by varied means) and/or tries to force upon the child a different dominant function than what he/she was born with. Jung also mentions that certain life circumstances may cause the child to habitually employ a function that is not the dominant, while repressing the dominant function. In any case, Jung concludes that any of this can result in mental illness, which I've also had some issues with. -- Just Some Girl
