Default Distinguish ESTp from INTj

I am hesitating about the type of my advisor and I need help. He is undoubtedly a Ti ego type. And his Ti is extremely strong, but in the same he uses sentences like "I like to torture myself" and can be very brutal with his remarks to others. He can be very nice at other times.

So the question is: how can I figure out whether he is ESTp or INTj? ISTj is not extremely improbable though, but ENTp is out of the question. What are the main differences between an ESTp and an INTj?

Just a general question: you have somebody who has highly developed analytic skills but is in the same time quite competitive and at least from the outside looks self-confident how would you know whether he is alpha NT or beta ST?

extraverted sensings like to dominate and they have a heaviness about them, be it in posture or facial structure

an ESTp will be much more forthcoming and pushy about what they personally think, whereas an INTj i imagine would just do their own thing, only influencing others when it seems necessary

My advisor is known to be extremely powerful. Yesterday my colleagues were joking who he would make the chairperson correct for him if he wants to.
