Category: Theory Typing
How can you type someone based on how they talk/phrase things? I just don't get it. Just out of curiosity.. Can you tell what type I am by the few words I've said? -- Anonymous

A1 One cannot be typed based on what they type. This type of request is typical of ENTps, combined with your conversation style of delimitation of sentences using commas and ellipses makes me almost certain. How can I be certain? Why I do it myself all the time, and have been researching this very thing. As for what people speak, verbally, look for the following hints: Es have a more commanding assertive voice and use their whole arms when "hand talking", I's are less commanding and use their lower arms only. p's have a much more easy going, somewhat smooth flowing conversation, delimited using commas, trailing off... j types are rational. Therefore they have short sentences. Their sentences get to the point. They speak like terminator. See what I did there? If you're an S,F or J type you probably didn't. Which is another trait. S,F,J don't get jokes unless you slap them in the face with the punch line. N types, especially of the E Tp variety will find a joke even when there isn't one. Your best bet is to study the temperaments, quadras, stimuli, attitude, communication style, argumentation, stress behaviour, etc, etc groups. I would post it here but I'm getting distracted by shiny objects on my monitor, ENTp also happen to occasionally not fini -- Mythikh
A2 No, not that few! One needs a chance to get a picture of how you process information and make decisions. That might not be enough. Only you can really determine what your own preferences are. A lot of people spend years trying to figure that out. Other people figure it out almost emmediatly. -- Anonymous
A3 perhaps. different cognitive functions are responsible for different perceptions on things... like your question, it's quite abstract and almost purely theoretical, so you probably used your intuitive cognitive functions to think and write it... but i find it easiest to type people based on videos. but if there is enough text i think it is possible to take a fairy justified guess but yes that typing might not be that reliable... and i think there is a big problem with people picking up socionics for basically the first time and typing people in those same five minutes [although this is an analogy] so this can lead to mistyping which can confuse people ten fold... i dunno, you could discuss the nature of typing in itself -- Th
A4 This looks like fun:) Isfp? That my guess. -- Anonymous
A5 Yes and no. I think certain types might be more inclined to use certain phrases but its not a hard and fast rule. You also have to look at their thought processes, what they value out of life, what they look for in a relationship- who they get along well with and who they don't. Language usage is just one part of the picture. But since you asked, you might be interested in this link: http://www.wikisocion.org/en/index.php?title=Vocabulary -- bigwhitesquare (INTj)

A6 Well, supposing I wrote, "i'll kill you and I mean it" then you would probably 'type' me as a violent man. Of course socionics type isn't necessarily as obv or as crude as that, but given time with the theory one eventually can match up what or how someone says something with the various socionic aspects. -- Cyclops
