I'm new to socionics and find all of Augustinavichute's theories fascinating. It seems like the next logical step after figuring out that people fall into distinct personality types is that you would be able to recognize which ones will interact in a more positive and dynamic way. The problem I have is I don't seem to be finding a lot of evidence that dual relationships work. In theory (I think) I understand why they do, but, it looks like the people on this website who've actually been in a dual relationship haven't been able to sustain them. I'm a female INFp and I would be very, very hesitant about opening up to and trusting a male ESTp. It's SOOO wonderful to think there's a specific personality type out there that is your Romeo or Juliet! But is this anything other than a theory?! -- Skeptoid |

A2 There are actually a lot of responses here from people in stable dual relationships, you just need to search more The reason you found so many examples of unsuccessful dual relationships here is this site also plays the role of a relationship advisor, so people who need to solve a problem are more active here. As to dual relationships: the principle behind them is true, in my experience, just that many other factors have their say, especially in romantic relationships. Like lifestyle, religion, education, birth order, hormones level etc. So if someone is your Dual s/he isnt necessarily your ideal partner, only some of them. - And I know some trustworthy ESTps, they exist -- Ezis (ESFp) |
A3 Nope, socionics is just a theory. There's little science to it, because one can not do experiments. Even observation is sketchy, because then we just change the rules to fit that person. However, there are obvious problems with Meyer Briggs just through observation. By the way, I'm in a complicated relationship with my dual (ISFP), but it may fail not because we don't get along, but because we aren't very good at this relationship thingy.
