Category: ISFj ISFp Intertype Relations j/p
As I never saw functions walking on the street, only people, I never did trust function-analyse, so that I watched mainly types-profiles in order to know personality-types. So I did recognize me perfectly in the ISFj description and even the V.I. seems to fit according to what I understood. From the definitions I'm typically a "J" type. No test scored me as a "P" type. BUT, I have a problem: The "Socionics type assistant" scored me as ISxx. I took this test several times at about one year interval so that I couldn't remember my previous answers. Now I tried to study the functions-sequence and found that actually SiFe fits me better than FiSe. The Hidden-Agenda and the "Wheel of Kalinauskas" lead to SiFe. The intertype relation with my wife, ENFp (semi-duality) could fit if my type is ISFp, but if my type is ISFj the relation has to be supervision, what doesn't fit. On the other hand, the intertype relation with our daughter ESFj (contrary) could fit if my type is ISFj, but if my type is ISFp the relation has to be mirror, what doesn't fit! So I'm totally troubled! Is someone able to tell me how to resolve the problem? -- piccolo_michel

A1 hmmm, that's a hard one...you sound like an ISFj, and most of the 'evidence' seems to point to ISFj. the thing that doesn't fit with ISFj is your intertype relationship with your wife...the answer may lie in subtypes - your type being either a normalizing p type or an exploratory j type....are you sure you've typed your family members correctly? -- Shez
A2 A conundrum indeed. I think we need more information in order to solve it. Three questions: 1) In what way does SiFe fit you better than FiSe? 2) Why does your relationship with your wife fit semi-duality better than supervision? 3) How does your relationship with your daughter fit contrary better than mirror? -- Krig (INTj)

A3 Thanks for your answers. To Krig: 1) I use much more "S" for "immediate personal application" than for "future reference". Si is what I trust the most, then Te, Fe and Fi almost equally. 2)I never could feel being controlled by my wife and she never tried to change me. We had some little quarrels during our 31 years of marriage but they were all very short and we could laugh of them 3)the whole description of the "contrary relation" describes exactly the kind of conflicts I have with our daughter. When we are alone and we are working on the same activity we generally are able to get along very well. -- piccolo_michel
A4 @A3 - Hmmm. It seems likely to me that you've mistyped either your wife or your daughter. Is it possible that your daughter is ESFp instead of ESFj? That would neatly explain everything, ESFp being Contrary to ISFp, which is Semi-Dual to ENFp. However, if you're certain of your daughter's type, then we'll have to move on to other possibilities. -- Krig (INTj)
A5 I also thought of it. Actually ESFp or ESFj is not sure for our daughter. I explained in an other question how she behaves. http://www.socionics.com/advan/qa.htm?1242206194 I also thought of ISFp as my type, but neither the profile nor the hidden agenda do fit. Maybe a photo of my wife and me could help. If you go to http://profiles.yahoo.com/piccolo_michel you can see a photo from 2003. (my wife has a MS and hardly can walk) -- piccolo_michel
A6 I must say, I've never heard an ISFp talk with the level of self-awareness and understated confidence in logical systems (indicative of good Ti) such as socionics that you, piccolo_michel, display....are you sure that you haven't confused Fi with Si...? I wonder that ISFj's don't have an Fi that is so experientially rich that it resembles Si...i notice that their personal worries can translate into physical pains such as headaches and aches of all sorts. -- S
A7 @A5 - To summarize what you're saying, a functional analysis results in you being typed as ISFp, but comparing yourself to the type profiles leads you to conclude you are ISFj, correct? In that case, I suggest taking a look at the wikisocion type profiles, which describe how the functions work together in each type. I've linked to them here: http://wikisocion.org/en/index.php?title=SEI http://wikisocion.org/en/index.php?title=ESI -- Krig (INTj)
A8 Thank you very much for your help. After having read the wikisocion type profiles I'm absolutely sure that ESI fit me much better than SEI. From some type description found in other sites my type also could have been SLI but from the SLI wikisocion type profile I can say SLI doesn't fit me. But why this bad relation with our daughter (SEE or ESE) and this relatively good relation with my wife (very likely IEE). Only 3 things in my wife's behaviour get sometimes on my nerves: she is badly organized, she is almost ever late and lives in a huge mess. Fortunately from the beginning of our marriage I did the house-keeping besides my job (veterinarian for cattle) while she worked outsides of our home as a psychiatrist -- piccolo_michel
A9 There is nothing wrong with living in a mess. -- Anonymous
A10 To A9...except if the mess invades the whole house so that other members of the family can no longer live correctly! -- piccolo_michel
A11 Not if the mess is controlled and doesnt exceed a certain circumference! btw I dont live in a mess... not all the time atleast -- Mostly an ENFp and partly (slightly) an ENTp
A12 Sounds like you might be an ISFj, like me. I've known and gotten to be very close with a lot of ENFps over the years (before I even knew what one was), so just because your relationship with your wife might not be "semi-duality" doesn't really mean anything. -- Anonymous
