What are the behavioral differences between ISTps and INTps that distinguish them from one another? -- Anonymous

A1 I feel pretty qualified to answer this one, having a very ambiguous S/N characteristic. I'm going to say that the chief difference between the two is impulsiveness. Not whether they have it or not, because an I**p always does, but the quality of it. In my experience: - An INTp is more needy with their impulsions. They want to find new and unexplored things - they will, to some extent, ignore obvious harm or potentially dangerous situations to satisfy their curiosity about the things around them. - an ISTP is more confident. Instead of seeking out new experience and new knowledge, they'll be doing new and odd things purely because they can. It's a less needy but less focussed kind of impulsion, often more about accumulating new abilities (playing the piano, origami etc - ISTp) than new knowledge (urban exploration, five hours on Wikipedia - INTp). Leastways, that's how I see it. -- I*Tp Anon

A2 ISTp like to listen to what other have to say, even if it's not likely to change their own opinions. INTp like to tell others what to think, even if it's not likely to change the other's opinions. -- INFp guy
