What is a mbti ISTJ in Socionics? Does an ISTJ (in MBTI)have a chance with an ENFP (in MBTI) -- MuchosCurios |
Your Answers: 1+ |
A1 If the ISTJ is an ISTp in Socionics and the ENFP is an ENFp in Socionics (which is not inprobable), they are Duals and a big chance to get along well. -- Anonymous |
A2 A1 is right; however, make sure the ISTJ is ISTp and not ISTj, or there could be trouble. Conflictor relationships can take lots of work. -- Kanerou |
A3 Actually, from what little information there is available about feasible MBTI/socionics typing correlations, I've gathered that MB ENFPs are rather often ENFjs, whilst MB ISTJs usually are in fact ISTjs. (Somewhere on socioniko.net I think this information is.) And yes, that's still duality, which is one of the most promising intertype relations. -- leigh |

A4 I've been amazed how often couples are exact opposites, yet seem to get along quite easily and without obvious type-conflicts (easier than my wife and I do with only one letter different - INTJ/ INTP respectively!). I suspect there is a rooted human tendency to look for our missing elements in our partner, so as to make some better, more complete whole. Most of us do not do this consciously, but maybe some deep instinct is at work? Going even further out on a limb, I suspect a degree of gender stereotyping makes T men look for F women, and maybe vice versa. (Retreats quickly to imagined safety behind sofa ) -- MartinF |
A5 The Information elements are what makes a type in Socionics whereas MBTI relies on the more simplistic letter system (I/E, N/S, etc). In MBTI an ISTJ is just a "Non-perceiving" ISTp, whereas in Socionics they both have different Information elements. In fact, an ISTj is closer to an ESTp than they are to ISTp, whereas an ISTp would be closer to an ESTj. This is because they share the same functions, but in reverse. An ISTj is TiSe, and ISTp is SiTe. An ENFp is NeFi, they're Polr Ti, which makes them conflict with ISTj's, whereas they value Si, which makes them dual with ISTp. If you want some information on Information Elements there is a chart that explains them all here http://wikisocion.org/en/index.php?title=Information_elements -- An INFj |
A6 Most ENFPs I know get annoyed by ISTJs sooner or later, because they find them boring. ISTJs are way to much of a homebody for an ENFP. ENFPs usualy love adventure, as far as I know. -- Anonymous |
A7 I find A3 interesting. I'm an ISFj (ISFJ too!) and my wife is an ENFP (ENFp or ENFj???). Our relation had to be "Supervision" but it rather looks like a "Semi-duality". Is it because ENFP (MBTI) and ENFp (Socionics) are twisted? I thought "introverted" types (Socionics vs MBTI) have the same profiles but their functions are twisted. -- piccolo_michel |
A8 @A7 - In theory, yes, MBTI simply switches the functions of Introverts, but because MBTI has such a lousy typing method, the results are all over the place. Both INTj and INTp can be typed as MBTI INTP, for example. And the MBTI profile descriptions are often a hodgepodge of backwards functional descriptions, behavioural observations that try to cram the behaviours of two or more groups into one, and assorted nonsense. (As you may be able to tell from my tone, I've grown annoyed with MBTI...) -- Krig (INTj) |
