How many people here don't understand the difference between Myers-Briggs and Socionics? -- deedeedee |

A29 In my understanding, A27, that is because some people decided to migrate the labels from MB to Socionics (the 4-letter typing). Something about making it more friendly to them or palatable, or something. And now we have mass confusion. It should also be noted that Myers' J/P dichotomy was a separation from Jung's work, something she added in herself. She thought the irrational types were the EPs and IJs, and the rational types were the EJs and IPs. According to Dmitri Lytov and Marianna Lytova, "Myers herself wrote that her hypothesis somewhat contradicts to empirical data. In her book Gifts Differing (1968) she wrote that the criterion J/P sometimes does not work well for introverted types." (The other info about Myers is also from a lecture of theirs.) That help clear up anything? -- Kanerou |
A30 The functions of socionics are ENTIRELY different than the functions of MBTI. I think the largest and biggest mistake socionics made was using E/I, N/S, F/T, and J/P - because this only leads to confusion - and although the functions are similar - they are not the same and their attitudes are very different when introverted or extraverted. -- Anonymous |
