Category: Personality
If someone is affected by a personality disorder, is it possible that his behavior is altered in such a way that makes him appear as another personality type?. Or each personality disorder is related to the personality type. Since some websites associates the personality disorder like schizoid to INTj. -- Anonymous

A1 Yes to both. Certain personality disorders are related to certain personality types. But there are also personality disorders, that cause the person to behave manner that's unlike to what their personality type would be, if they were healthy. Or they can constanly behave in a manner, that's false to their personalities. -- RR INTp

A2 Anyone can be "mentally ill" but schizoids are more often introverted types while depressives are more often extroverted types -- but this is just a rule of thumb. Also, that someone IS LABELED "mentally ill" in no way implies that they "are" -- nor does it say anything about the extent/manner of the illness, accuracy of diagnosis, etc. NTs (even healthy ones) have a greater chance of being mislabeled "insane" from the onset because they are so "weird" -- actually, they're just uncommon (false diagnoses of Asperger's abound) and their "social ineptness" (or "anti-social behavior") is more often deliberate social abstinence -- even introverted NTs converse among their own and about their own. By the same token, in a more NT-prone world less literate types would be accused of "intellectual ineptness." Introverted NTs are more likely than other types to be considered "mentally ill" because xNTjs are argumentative by nature and INTps tactlessly blunt at times, without sharing ISTj/ps' more "well-understood" interests to make them seem "human." (Keep in mind also that other types are not without flaws of similar scope, but the INTx attitude of being bizarre with little "comprehensible" justification often attracts unwanted attention) Lastly, the possibility of a "mis-type" exists, but most often mis-types are not by a radical margin -- the more questions answered, the less the chance of error. "Type" and "actual personality" are different. -- Anonymous
