Question #1179048865 | Sunday, 13-May-2007 |

|
Recently I interviewed for a job in front of a panel of three people. I don't know more than bits and pieces about the types of the first two on the panel (one j, the other an F), but the third person was probably an ENTp. He walked in late, he was giggly, and every other question he had for me was basically him trying to be a naysayer and discredit the answers I gave. I interviewed well, but what rationale would an ENTp or any other type have for acting kooky that way? I have been friends with or associated with ENTps from time to time and usually get along well. Just as an example, I worked with an ENTp about a year ago who is a very smart person and the last thing he would do is poke and jab at what he thought was a person's weak points, which is not to say he is the perfect person, but I did learn a lot from him. So should I throw up my hands and say "so much for being in the alpha quadrant?" Has anyone noticed ENTps behaving differently when they are in positions of authority? -- econdude |

A1 You could have been poked according to a script to see how you react. This is a common tactic in interviews for positions that supervise or deal with customers - to check your tact and diplomacy. However, ENTp can be annoying because they have a tendency not listen and like the sound of their own voice. And, there are incompetents of every type. Let's not confuse type with intellect. -- I/O |
A2 A1 thanks for the reply. I 100% agree that type and intellect are separate, we choose our actions every day and therefore act ethically or unethically, totally uncorrelated with type. -- econdude |
