Category: Typing Fictional characters
What type is Jack Bauer in 24? -- Anonymous
Your Answers: 1+
A1 My initial guess is ISFj - ? Otherwise I don't know. (I considered ESTj.) -- econdude
A2 He always ignores rules and authority and makes decision based on intuition, so he's probably N type, maybe INTP/INTJ. -- Anonymous
A3 I'd say all signs point to INTJ. He retreats within himself as a defense mechanism (start of season 2) Definately acts on intuition like A2 mentions. What makes me say 'J' is his singularity in deciding a course of action. He's flexible, but definately says, "hey, here's what we're doing, let's go do it." -- Anonymous
A4 ENTj, he's a man of action and muscle. An INTj is more like a mastermind who'd coordinate the work of others and plan the action. -- Anonymous
A5 Jack Bauer played by Kiefer Sutherland, ESTJ, Assertive, commanding, combative, brutal behavior, strongly opinionated, bigoted, hostile, intimidates, coerces and demeans others, reckless, abrupt, thick-skinned, closed minded, attracted to risk, danger and harm etc. 24: Jack Bauer Kills

A6 I'm with you on your first guess, econdude. At least far from NT behaviour. Too emotional and uncontrolled. I know a few NT's, apart from beeing one myself. They never leave such signs of weakness away to other people. Inefficient and both tactical and strategical undesirable. -- ENTp
A7 A6. "Too emotional" Please ENTP, do a quick reality check. -- jgbr
A8 I'm not only giving a reality chech, I'll elaborate: In almost every instance I have watched that show, I have seen a person shouting in peoples faces, using excessive facial expressions and bodylanguage upon various actions of both preference and causal character. If that aint channeling much of your available resources in actions as an emotional defocus' then a redefinition of the concept selfcontrol needs a new objective update. Good luck on that one! -- ENTp
A9 I wasnt quite clear enough in my last, and I do not intend to make an ongoing sequel out of this. For the benefit of general information; I have done a judgement of observance upon this Jack Bauers neurolinguistical performance, and have found it to be in strong compliance to dispersed energy and focus detrimentation relative to actions that require a good focal approach. What does that mean in effect? Well, not much, other than that I have no experience with such appearance from both my own and my NT aquaintance's experiences along a timeline producing threatening situations. What they all said, and which I highly sanction, is that in such environments it is essential to collect all you got into one main focus. Not as much as a requirement in a phallosic fetisch of selfcontrol, but out of sheer necessity and efficiency of performance. And you dont give away your intentions. Which is quite beneficial. I must admit I havent seen much of the beyond 1st season, just because to me the main character appeared uncontrolled and consequentially proned to emotional instability and as such alienated the character opposed to my own circle of resemblance not to mention preference of entertainment. From there stemmed the no NT judgement. To each his own. When that is said, I know what 24 hours is about: Money! And in that Jack Bauer does exactly what is expected from him, delivering drama to produce lucrative commercial slots. A Dolph Lundgren, Robert de Niro taxidriver performance doesnt sell that much in comparison. I am also quite sure that there never was any desire to portray a certain type in the production. In all essence. Sorry moderator for the twin posting. -- ENTp
