Question #1172939476Saturday, 3-Mar-2007
Category: Theory
Can any human being transcend their personality type? I understand all of the processes at a level where I can play in each, but at the end of the day I'm still my type. I'd love to spend an evening as Extroverted Sensor, or a morning as an Introverted Thinker, not just mere seconds or minutes. Surely someone can do it? It shouldn't be particularly hard. Can you imagine how amazing it would to move from one type to another by choice. -- RUKinetic

A1 People transcend their type by definition. You are more than your type. Your type is not you. Calling people by their types is shorthand for the purpose of inquiry into this subject. Your type is your cognitive toolbox, that's all. You want to swap toolboxes? What could be the point of that, apart from losing efficiency?? Each person uses every function - just at differing rates over time. I suspect that you may enjoy a variety of experiences, but if you could change your type to one that did not: you probably wouldn't switch back, the cycle would cease, and you would no longer find the prospect "amazing." Heh heh. The grass isn't greener elsewhere, so just make the best of what you've got. -- blahblahblah
A2 Why not? If you're right-handed, couldn't you use your left for a day or two or vice versa? How well would you do? The same brain that lays out your type preferences controls both hands. Could one be ambi-type-trous? I say: "Find happiness within your own type" -- I/O

A3 Life pretty much dictates that we balance ourselves, the better to be able to meet all challenges. We do not live in a laboratory, so we don't know what's comin' at us next. The types are a good tool to help us understand where we're already strong - this should motivate us to develop our weak spots. -- iAnnAu
A4 iAnnAu, i like what u express, and how u express it. it has given me the motivation to continue posting at this site in terms similar to yourself. My gratitude. To the poster.. i say: 'as much as possible in any way possible'.(as this is a forum...i will probably express that again...it is certainly good to play the tides at tunes akin to myself...not trying to bridge a 'sensory wall'..in my terms, but playing around with intuitive grasps___u say u like ideas...lately i formalized an Axis idea...all expression forms are Sensory Intuitive...intuitives preferably play the intuitive axis and launch depthwise into sensory realms of the choice...whereas sensors play sense axis, and at times launch depthwise into intuitive expressions) -- @sirac
