Dr House, intj or intp? http://www.fox.com/house/ -- Vic
Your Answers: 1+ 40+
A40 house is an ISTP. not because i like him and therefore want to see him as the type i am myself (ISTP), but because i have never before seen a character that would have so much in common with me. i have about as many friends as he has. people stay away from me for the same dark sarcasm and my sense for the same kind of humor. i often find myself closed in my room playing an instrument, to relax. my disregard for any other set of rules than my own (and even those of my own are very flexible) has earned me several meetings and warnings from my bosses. he's just not gonna wear that lab coat. im just not gonna wear those steel-cap protective boots in our warehouse. remember that speech he gave, when forced by his dictator-boss (the black guy)? its the same vengefulness, the same spite i have always possessed, and i have often fantasized about such "public triumph" to finish off someone im in conflict with. i could go on like this for much longer... i see many people go for house being iNtuitive, but i think when he "just knows", its more about the analytical, rational, deductive method than about intuition. possibly, he is rather balanced between S-N, slightly more S than N ) -- peter
A41 I dunno. I'm an ISTp and I have zero, none, zilch interest in that show. I watched maybe 5 minutes of that show and had to turn it off. I'll refrain from ****ting on him, but I prefer watching sports, and shows that are actually funny, like Its Always Sunny. -- Anonymous
A42 i actually think he is an ISTp with well developed Ni, for similar reasons to A23. That is, he relies on other ppl's intuitions. Also, he has very strong Se, not flinching to try risky, life-threatening procedures in order to diagnosis. And yes, he is too confrontational to be INTj, and his reasoning style is not very INTj-like. -- Anonymous

A43 @A18 "The INTJ is the only type that really balances right and left brain sort of activities/thoughts etc so well" you obviously havent come in contact with many intps.. either that or you just mistype them as intjs. -- Anonymous
A44 i know for a fact he isnt an intp. i doubt he is an intj. he is very step on other people's toes-ish.. which is not very intp at all, but more of a S than an N, however, he is, imo, a T, and probably a P, because he has feelings, and the P passes teh feelings as feeling introverted. i dont see why he cant be an E, he is awfully quick to express his dislike for others, and has no trouble talking in public/making scenes (just because people dont like his socialization, doesnt mean that he is introverted) i would guess ESTP -- Anonymous
A45 The glove fits INTp. Not sure why people are saying ISTp. He's essentially a caricature of . -- Anonymous
A46 He don't embrace any Fe from what I can tell -- Anonymous
A47 Too many INTj responses from INTjs who are actually INTps. Make no mistake, House hates the inefficient structure of the places he's in; constantly disregarding his authorities, ruthlessly corrects mistakes, BAD at practical paperwork, daily chores, indulges in ALCOHOL, even though hes a DOCTOR and knows how UNHEALTHY it is for him. The dead giveaway? an extremely cunning linguist. INTp, plain as day, a day that is cloudy and foggy right after Armageddon because that's how all INTps are. House is missing an essential INTp attribute: religion, or is he? Medicine is his religion, it has rules, rituals and continues to prove itself correct in his eyes. Medicine is his god, and he is Pope, and everyone around him is an atheist and won't let him reign the way he wants to. Also if you have actually watched a full episode, or actually 10, you would remember that all of his revelations come from a random occurrence. Such as hearing elevator music, or seeing a cereal commercial. INTjs don't jump to conclusions, they don't use language to humiliate wrong doers, they just get upset when an INTp pulls apart their argument. All of the people helping him are INTjs, especially the shorter ones who get upset at his antics. Better question is: What is Wilson? What inter-type relationship does he have with House? -- Mythikh
A48 Forget that last response, I was sure House was my type, and that my type was INTp. House is an ENTp. His introversion stems from ENTps sometimes being "Shy Extroverts." Social skill has nothing to do with E or I. The rest of the description lines up perfectly, especially all the inappropriate joking he does, needing to be the bestestest/uniquerest doctor ever, constantly breaking the system. A49 I think House is ENTJ. He thinks intuitively and just blurts out what he thinks is correct. He's very domineering which is a strong characteristic of the E & J combination. -- Catherine
A50 Hugh Laurie, Dr. House, ENTP (1.Ne, 2.Ti), "One Exciting Challenge After Another", notices hidden meanings and interpreting them, non-conforming, good at analysis, has tolerance for the complex, looks for novel solutions to problems, can become easily bored and argumentative, prone to insomnia etc. Hugh Laurie & Stephen Fry-(ESTJ) comedy sketch -- jgbr

A52 hello people, firstly, to those who say, that House's character type could be ISTP or other type with Sensory - intuition or sensory in MBTI doesn't says about what person is tend to do, so Houses hedonistic lifestyle does not have anything in common with his personality type being intuitive or sensing, because it shows not how person lives, but how his brain reflects world and how understands it. In simple words - it's like reading a book. Some people will retell the plot, because it's everything what they got from book, and other will talk about meanings of story, words between the lines. Secondly, to those who says that House charecter is INTP or whatever with sensing and tries to find something in common with him - stop doing that. you won't find anything similar to house except what you can see on the surface and say that you are like twins with House, because you have similar habits. It's like saying that i'm like a twin with a chewbacca - i have hair, two hands, two legs, now how to roar. take care. Roooaaarrrr!!!!! :} -- Chewbacca bro
A53 I've seen a number of MBTI sites list Dr. House as an INTJ. If you believe http://mbti-in-fiction.tumblr.com/post/31591750919/greg-house, then they describe why they believe his dominant function is ...in which case, would theoretically make him INTp. http://www.16personalities.com/intj-personality is a certified British personality site where I most recently tested as INTP-A, though they combine a few personality theories such as MBTI, Big 5 (where the -A comes into play), Linda Berrin's Interaction Styles, etc. They also list the famous Dr. House as an archetypical INTJ. -- Soc INTj, MBTI INTP, SLOAN rcoei, Enne 5w4
