Question #1160943181 | Sunday, 15-Oct-2006 |

|
When I took the Socionics Type Assistant, I tested as an INTp. The problem is I've been told by many people that I have a very strong presence, and I can intimidate them sometimes. I was wondering if this type of behavior is common among fellow INTPs or if it's found in those of the more extroverted types. -- Fefe |

A1 The female INTps I've known best are noticeably overbearing, (which ironically makes them look a bit awkward). -- anonymous |
A2 I'm INTp and my friends tell me that too. Introverts can be intimidating because of the way they look, extroverts because they have in-your-face behaviour. Also it says on the INTp profile:"When interacting with others they may be very active, pushy and sometimes even aggressive. They often do not obey the norms of politeness and may sometime be rough and vulgar". Body guards adopt a behaviour that is similar to INTp: silent, observant, mostly unemotional only showing a slight negative expression. And for example Mister T is likely to INTp. -- Anonymous |
A3 I am an INTp female and people say the same thing about me. I appear unapproachable. When I was little, everyone would always ask me what was wrong. They said I looked sad. Now I just look mean, he he. -- Anonymous |
A4 I think it's also the intelligence factor. People equate our quietness and lack of visible emotion with an unassailably logical mind. I've had people say I just look like I know what's going through someone else's head - and that I've already dismissed his/her ideas as irretrievably moronic. (It would be pretty cool if that were true...) -- JilltheINTP |
A5 During socializations, I've noticed I had to adjust to the atmosphere so that I don't come off as brute, callous, or overbearing. This tends to make me come off awkward, not self-confident, or repressed. hmm -- Anonymous |
A6 If its someone I don't know, and I'm in a bad mood or somethings bugging me, I can tell I intimidate people. Non-verbally though, so its possibly an appearance related thing. On the other hand, if i'm not in a bad mood, which is usually the case, people find me very approachable, or at least thats what I've been told. But in the company of familiar faces, which is most of the time, intimidation plays a major factor in Super Smash Bros (n64 of course) and Madden. -- ISTp |
A7 Yeah, I know where you're coming from. People are always expressing how intimidating I look. Personally, I like it. -- femaleINTP |
A8 Intimidating and unapproachable - but in what way? Why? I don't understand this. -- alienhead |
